Wintry mix expected through tonight

A wintry mix will be possible today across northern Missouri. Further south, precipitation will generally be in the form of rain and drizzle, however, a bit of light snow and freezing drizzle may be possible during the morning hours before temperatures rise above freezing. Tuesday morning will see a chance for light snow and light freezing drizzle as the system exits to the east. Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service:

Today: Cloudy. Patchy fog through the day. Chance of snow possibly mixed with freezing rain and rain in the morning. Rain possibly mixed with snow in the afternoon. Snow accumulation up to 1 inch. Highs in the mid 30s. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation 90 percent.

Tonight: Cloudy. Areas of fog until early morning. Rain, freezing rain possibly mixed with snow and sleet in the evening. Chance of light freezing drizzle possibly mixed with snow after midnight. Some snow and sleet accumulation possible. Ice accumulation of one tenth of an inch. Lows in the mid 20s. North winds 10 to 15 mph. Gusts up to 25 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation 80 percent.

Tuesday: Partly sunny in the morning then clearing. Highs in the mid 30s. Northwest winds 15 to 20 mph.

Tuesday Night: Clear. Lows around 18. Northwest winds around 10 mph in the evening becoming light and variable.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 40s. South winds around 10 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph in the afternoon.

Thursday: Partly sunny. Highs in the upper 40s. Temperatures steady or slowly falling in the afternoon.
